RESUMO

The spatial response mechanism of hydrology and water quality of large river-connected lakes is very complicated. In this study, we developed a spatial response analysis method that couples wavelet correlation analysis (WTC) with self-organizing maps (SOM), revealing the spatial response and variation of water level and water quality in Poyang Lake, China's largest river-connected lake, over the past decade. The results show that: (1) there was significant spatial heterogeneity in water level and quality during the dry seasons (2010-2018) compared to other hydrological stages. (2) We identified a more pronounced difference in response of water level and quality between northern and southern parts of Poyang Lake. As the distance increases from the northern lake outlet, the impact of rising water levels on water quality deterioration intensified during the dry seasons. (3) The complex spatial heterogeneity of water level and quality response in the dry seasons is primarily influenced by water level fluctuations from the northern region and the cumulative pollutant entering the lake from the south, which particularly leads to the reversal of the response in the central area of Poyang Lake. The results of this study can contribute to scientific decision-making regarding water environment zoning management in large river-connected lakes amidst complex environment conditions.

Leaf senescence is an essential physiological process related to grain yield potential and nutritional quality. Green leaf duration (GLD) after anthesis directly reflects the leaf senescence process and exhibits large genotypic differences in common wheat; however, the underlying gene regulatory mechanism is still lacking. Here, we identified TaNAM-A1 as the causal gene of the major loci qGLD-6A for GLD during grain filling by map-based cloning. Transgenic assays and TILLING mutant analyses demonstrated that TaNAM-A1 played a critical role in regulating leaf senescence, and also affected spike length and grain size. Furthermore, the functional divergences among the three haplotypes of TaNAM-A1 were systematically evaluated. Wheat varieties with TaNAM-A1d (containing two mutations in the coding DNA sequence of TaNAM-A1) exhibited a longer GLD and superior yield-related traits compared to those with the wild type TaNAM-A1a. All three haplotypes were functional in activating the expression of genes involved in macromolecule degradation and mineral nutrient remobilization, with TaNAM-A1a showing the strongest activity and TaNAM-A1d the weakest. TaNAM-A1 also modulated the expression of the senescence-related transcription factors TaNAC-S-7A and TaNAC016-3A. TaNAC016-3A enhanced the transcriptional activation ability of TaNAM-A1a by protein-protein interaction, thereby promoting the senescence process. Our study offers new insights into the fine-tuning of the leaf functional period and grain yield formation for wheat breeding under various geographical climatic conditions.

BACKGROUND: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are associated with development and progression of multiple myeloma (MM). However, the role and mechanism of circ_0005615 in MM have not been elucidated. METHODS: Circ_0005615 was determined by GEO database. quantitative RT-PCR was performed to confirm the expression of circ_0005615 in peripheral blood of MM patients and MM cells. The roles of circ_0005615 in MM were analyzed using CCK8, transwell invasion, cell apoptosis and tumor xenograft experiments. Bioinformatics tools, RIP and RNA pull down assays were conducted to explore the downstream of circ_0005615. Furthermore, the mechanism was investigated by quantitative RT-PCR, western blot, dot blot and meRIP-PCR assays. RESULTS: Circ_0005615 was upregulated in MM. Overexpression of circ_0005615 promoted cell viability and invasion, and suppressed apoptosis in vitro, which were opposite when circ_0005615 was knockdowned. Mechanistically, EIF4A3, a RNA-binding protein (RBP), could directly bind to circ_0005615 and ALKBH5, where ALKBH5 could directly combine with MAP3K4, forming a circ_0005615- EIF4A3-ALKBH5-MAP3K4 module. Furthermore, circ_0005615 overexpression increased m6A methylation of MAP3K4 by inhibiting ALKBH5, leading to decreased MAP3K4. Further functional experiments indicated that ALKBH5 overexpression weakened the promoting roles of circ_0005615 overexpression in MAP3K4 m6A methylation and tumor progression in MM. The above functions and mechanism were also verified in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: Elevated circ_0005615 decreased MAP3K4 mediated by ALKBH5 through interacting with EIF4A3, thereby accelerating MM progression. Circ_0005615 might be a promising biomarker and target of MM.

The distortion by gravity of a quasi-static bubble attached on an upward facing surface in a quiescent liquid is investigated. The contact angle evolution during the growth of such a bubble is studied, and the consequences on the motion of the contact line between the solid and the interface are discussed. From the initial case of a bubble attached to the rim of a nucleation site, the contact line can move inside the cavity for a highly wetting fluid, causing premature departure. For a higher wettability, the contact can either remain attached to the rim of the cavity or spread out of the cavity, depending on the cavity size and geometry. For the latter case, the bubble growth is investigated taking into account a contact angle hysteresis. Finally, a comprehensive map detailing various geometrical characteristics of bubbles is presented, ranging over several orders of magnitude of Bond numbers and normalized volumes. The map aims at being used as a tool for investigating bubble growth in a similar situation.

In many tumors pronounced extracellular acidosis resulting from glycolytic metabolism is found. Since several environmental stress factors affect the mitochondrial activity the aim of the study was to analyze the impact of acidosis on cellular oxygen consumption and which signaling pathways may be involved in the regulation. In two tumor cell lines and normal fibroblasts cellular oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and mitochondrial function were measured after 3 h at pH 6.6. Besides the activation of ERK1/2, p38 and PI3K signaling in the cytosolic and mitochondrial compartment, the mitochondrial structure and proteins related to mitochondria fission were analyzed. The acidic extracellular environment increased OCR in tumor cells but not in fibroblasts. In parallel, the mitochondrial membrane potential increased at low pH. In both tumor lines (but not in fibroblasts), the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and PI3K/Akt was significantly increased, and both cascades were involved in OCR modulation. The activation of signaling pathways was located predominantly in the mitochondrial compartment of the cells. At low pH, the mitochondrial structure in tumor cells showed structural changes related to elongation whereas mitochondria fragmentation was reduced indicating mitochondria fusion. However, these morphological changes were not related to ERK1/2 or PI3K signaling. Acidic stress seems to induce an increased oxygen consumption, which might further aggravate tumor hypoxia. Low pH also induces mitochondria fusion that is not mediated by ERK1/2 or PI3K signaling. The mechanism by which these signaling cascades modulate the respiratory activity of tumor cells needs further investigation.

Mechanosensory neurons located across the body surface respond to tactile stimuli and elicit diverse behavioral responses, from relatively simple stimulus location-aimed movements to complex movement sequences. How mechanosensory neurons and their postsynaptic circuits influence such diverse behaviors remains unclear. We previously discovered that Drosophila perform a body location-prioritized grooming sequence when mechanosensory neurons at different locations on the head and body are simultaneously stimulated by dust (Hampel et al., 2017; Seeds et al., 2014). Here, we identify nearly all mechanosensory neurons on the Drosophila head that individually elicit aimed grooming of specific head locations, while collectively eliciting a whole head grooming sequence. Different tracing methods were used to reconstruct the projections of these neurons from different locations on the head to their distinct arborizations in the brain. This provides the first synaptic resolution somatotopic map of a head, and defines the parallel-projecting mechanosensory pathways that elicit head grooming.

Linkage maps are essential for genetic mapping of phenotypic traits, gene map-based cloning, and marker-assisted selection in breeding applications. Construction of a high-quality saturated map requires high-quality genotypic data on a large number of molecular markers. Errors in genotyping cannot be completely avoided, no matter what platform is used. When genotyping error reaches a threshold level, it will seriously affect the accuracy of the constructed map and the reliability of consequent genetic studies. In this study, repeated genotyping of two recombinant inbred line (RIL) populations derived from crosses Yangxiaomai × Zhongyou 9507 and Jingshuang 16 × Bainong 64 was used to investigate the effect of genotyping errors on linkage map construction. Inconsistent data points between the two replications were regarded as genotyping errors, which were classified into three types. Genotyping errors were treated as missing values, and therefore the non-erroneous data set was generated. Firstly, linkage maps were constructed using the two replicates as well as the non-erroneous data set. Secondly, error correction methods implemented in software packages QTL IciMapping (EC) and Genotype-Corrector (GC) were applied to the two replicates. Linkage maps were therefore constructed based on the corrected genotypes and then compared with those from the non-erroneous data set. Simulation study was performed by considering different levels of genotyping errors to investigate the impact of errors and the accuracy of error correction methods. Results indicated that map length and marker order differed among the two replicates and the non-erroneous data sets in both RIL populations. For both actual and simulated populations, map length was expanded as the increase in error rate, and the correlation coefficient between linkage and physical maps became lower. Map quality can be improved by repeated genotyping and error correction algorithm. When it is impossible to genotype the whole mapping population repeatedly, 30% would be recommended in repeated genotyping. The EC method had a much lower false positive rate than did the GC method under different error rates. This study systematically expounded the impact of genotyping errors on linkage analysis, providing potential guidelines for improving the accuracy of linkage maps in the presence of genotyping errors.

A group co-design was held in March 2021 with six blind and low-vision individuals (BLIs) from the United States. Participants were asked to discuss problems related to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic and make recommendations for possible solutions. Two probes (prototypes) of a non-visual neighborhood travel map and a non-visual COVID-19 choropleth map (a map using colors or sounds over each state to represent different values) of COVID-19 state data were shown to participants for inspiration. The participants expressed that COVID-19 had significantly increased their apprehension and discomfort associated with activities such as venturing outside, traveling, engaging with strangers, communicating, adapting to changes in familiar environments, and wearing masks. Participants gravitated towards the need for information the probes provided, and made a number of observations and recommendations for improvement. They wanted more detailed geo-referenced COVID-19 data (including by county), information related to voting, a mobile app, and more detailed building information, such as doors on the travel map.

Background: Despite the recognized roles of Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectins (SIGLECs) in endocytosis and immune regulation across cancers, their molecular intricacies in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) are underexplored. Meanwhile, the complicated interactions between different SIGLECs are also crucial but open questions. Methods: We investigate the correlation between SIGLECs and various properties, including cancer status, prognosis, clinical features, functional enrichment, immune cell abundances, immune checkpoints, pathways, etc. To fully understand the behavior of multiple SIGLECs' co-evolution and subtract its leading effect, we additionally apply three unsupervised machine learning algorithms, namely, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Self-Organizing Maps (SOM), K-means, and two supervised learning algorithms, Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and neural network (NN). Results: We find significantly lower expression levels in COAD samples, together with a systematic enhancement in the correlations between distinct SIGLECs. We demonstrate SIGLEC14 significantly affects the Overall Survival (OS) according to the Hazzard ratio, while using PCA further enhances the sensitivity to both OS and Disease Free Interval (DFI). We find any single SIGLEC is uncorrelated to the cancer stages, which can be significantly improved by using PCA. We further identify SIGLEC-1,15 and CD22 as hub genes in COAD through Differentially Expressed Genes (DEGs), which is consistent with our PCA-identified key components PC-1,2,5 considering both the correlation with cancer status and immune cell abundance. As an extension, we use SOM for the visualization of the SIGLECs and show the similarities and differences between COAD patients. SOM can also help us define subsamples according to the SIGLECs status, with corresponding changes in both immune cells and cancer T-stage, for instance. Conclusion: We conclude SIGLEC-1,15 and CD22 as the most promising hub genes in the SIGLECs family in treating COAD. PCA offers significant enhancement in the prognosis and clinical analyses, while using SOM further unveils the transition phases or potential subtypes of COAD.

The Changzhi Basin in Shanxi is renowned for its extensive mining activities. It's crucial to comprehend the spatial distribution and geochemical factors influencing its water quality to uphold water security and safeguard the ecosystem. However, the complexity inherent in hydrogeochemical data presents challenges for linear data analysis methods. This study utilizes a combined approach of self-organizing maps (SOM) and K-means clustering to investigate the hydrogeochemical sources of shallow groundwater in the Changzhi Basin and the associated human health risks. The results showed that the groundwater chemical characteristics were categorized into 48 neurons grouped into six clusters (C1-C6) representing different groundwater types with different contamination characteristics. C1, C3, and C5 represent uncontaminated or minimally contaminated groundwater (Ca-HCO3 type), while C2 signifies mixed-contaminated groundwater (HCO3-Ca type, Mixed Cl-Mg-Ca type, and CaSO4 type). C4 samples exhibit impacts from agricultural activities (Mixed Cl-Mg-Ca), and C6 reflects high Ca and NO3- groundwater. Anthropogenic activities, especially agriculture, have resulted in elevated NO3- levels in shallow groundwater. Notably, heightened non-carcinogenic risks linked to NO3-, Pb, F-, and Mn exposure through drinking water, particularly impacting children, warrant significant attention. This research contributes valuable insights into sustainable groundwater resource development, pollution mitigation strategies, and effective ecosystem protection within intensive mining regions like the Changzhi Basin. It serves as a vital reference for similar areas worldwide, offering guidance for groundwater management, pollution prevention, and control.

Continuum robots play the role of end effectors in various surgical robots and endoscopic devices. While soft continuum robots (SCRs) have proven advantages such as safety and compliance, more research and development are required to enhance their capability for specific medical scenarios. This research aims at designing a soft robot, considering the concepts of geometric and kinematic similarities. The chosen application is a semi-invasive medical application known as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The feasibility of fabrication of a soft endoscopic device derived from the Chorda dorsalis paragon was shown empirically by producing a three-segment pneumatic SCR. The main novelties include bioinspired design, modeling, and a navigation control strategy presented as a novel algorithm to maintain a kinematic similarity between the soft robot and the rigid counterpart. The kinematic model was derived based on the method of transformation matrices, and an algorithm based on a self-organizing map (SOM) network was developed and applied to realize kinematic similarity. The simulation results indicate that the control method forces the soft robot tip to follow the path of the rigid probe within the prescribed distance error (5 mm). The solution provides a soft robot that can surrogate and succeed the traditional rigid counterpart owing to size, workspace, and kinematics.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) induce innate immune responses through activation of intracellular signaling pathways, such as MAP kinase and NF-κB signaling pathways, and play an important role in host defense against bacterial or viral infections. Meanwhile, excessive activation of TLR signaling leads to a variety of inflammatory disorders, including autoimmune diseases. TLR signaling is therefore strictly controlled to balance optimal immune response and inflammation. However, its balancing mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we identified the E3 ubiquitin ligase LINCR/ NEURL3 as a critical regulator of TLR signaling. In LINCR-deficient cells, the sustained activation of JNK and p38 MAPKs induced by the agonists for TLR3, TLR4, and TLR5, was clearly attenuated. Consistent with these observations, TLR-induced production of a series of inflammatory cytokines was significantly attenuated, suggesting that LINCR positively regulates innate immune responses by promoting the activation of JNK and p38. Interestingly, our further mechanistic study identified MAPK phosphatase-1 (MKP1), a negative regulator of MAP kinases, as a ubiquitination target of LINCR. Thus, our results demonstrate that TLRs fine-tune the activation of MAP kinase pathways by balancing LINCR (the positive regulator) and MKP1 (the negative regulator), which may contribute to the induction of optimal immune responses.

In the acquisition process of 3D cultural relics, it is common to encounter noise. To facilitate the generation of high-quality 3D models, we propose an approach based on graph signal processing that combines color and geometric features to denoise the point cloud. We divide the 3D point cloud into patches based on self-similarity theory and create an appropriate underlying graph with a Markov property. The features of the vertices in the graph are represented using 3D coordinates, normal vectors, and color. We formulate the point cloud denoising problem as a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation problem and use a graph Laplacian regularization (GLR) prior to identifying the most probable noise-free point cloud. In the denoising process, we moderately simplify the 3D point to reduce the running time of the denoising algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms five competing methods in both subjective and objective assessments. It requires fewer iterations and exhibits strong robustness, effectively removing noise from the surface of cultural relic point clouds while preserving fine-scale 3D features such as texture and ornamentation. This results in more realistic 3D representations of cultural relics.

Cancer metastasis is the leading cause of mortality in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To meet the rapid malignant growth and transformation, tumor cells dramatically increase the consumption of nutrients, such as amino acids. Peptide transporter 1 (PEPT1), a key transporter for small peptides, has been found to be an effective and energy-saving intracellular source of amino acids that are required for the growth of tumor cells. Here, the role of PEPT1 in HCC metastasis and its underlying mechanisms is explored. PEPT1 is upregulated in HCC cells and tissues, and high PEPT1 expression is associated with poor prognosis in patients with HCC. PEPT1 overexpression dramatically promoted HCC cell migration, invasion, and lung metastasis, whereas its knockdown abolished these effects both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistic analysis revealed that high PEPT1 expression increased cellular dipeptides in HCC cells that are responsible for activating the MAP4K4/G3BP2 signaling pathway, ultimately facilitating the phosphorylation of G3BP2 at Thr227 and enhancing HCC metastasis. Taken together, these findings suggest that PEPT1 acts as an oncogene in promoting HCC metastasis through dipeptide-induced MAP4K4/G3BP2 signaling and that the PEPT1/MAP4K4/G3BP2 axis can serve as a promising therapeutic target for metastatic HCC.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a serious malignant tumour with a high mortality rate and a poor prognosis. Recently, emerging evidence has suggested that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays a crucial regulatory role in cancer progression. However, the exact role of m6A regulatory factors FTO in GC is unclear. First, the expression of m6A methylation-related regulatory factors in clinical samples and the clinical data of the corresponding patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA-STAD) dataset, and correlation analysis between FTO expression and patient clinicopathological parameters was subsequently performed. qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and western blotting (WB) were used to verify FTO expression in GC. CCK-8, EdU, flow cytometry and transwell assays were used to evaluate the effect of FTO on the behaviour of GC cells. Transcriptome sequencing and RNA immunoprecipitation analysis were used to explore the potential regulatory mechanisms mediated by FTO. FTO was highly expressed in GC tissues and cells, and high expression of FTO predicted a worse prognosis than low expression. Functionally, overexpression of FTO promoted the proliferation, migration and invasion of GC cells but inhibited cell apoptosis. Mechanistically, we found that FTO is upregulated in GC and promotes GC progression by modulating the expression of MAP4K4. Taken together, our findings provide new insights into the effects of FTO-mediated m6A demethylation and could lead to the development of new strategies for GC monitoring and aggressive treatment.

Inflammatory T cells contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Analysis of the T-cell transcriptomics data of two independent SLE patient cohorts by three machine learning models revealed the pseudogene UHRF1P as a novel SLE biomarker. The pseudogene-encoded UHRF1P protein was overexpressed in peripheral blood T cells of SLE patients. The UHRF1P protein lacks the amino-terminus of its parental UHRF1 protein, resulting in missing the proteasome-binding ubiquitin-like (Ubl) domain of UHRF1. T-cell-specific UHRF1P transgenic mice manifested the induction of IL-17A and autoimmune inflammation. Mechanistically, UHFR1P prevented UHRF1-induced Lys48-linked ubiquitination and degradation of MAP4K3 (GLK), which is a kinase known to induce IL-17A. Consistently, IL-17A induction and autoimmune phenotypes of UHRF1P transgenic mice were obliterated by MAP4K3 knockout. Collectively, UHRF1P overexpression in T cells inhibits the E3 ligase function of its parental UHRF1 and induces autoimmune diseases.

In the process of preparing presonalized concentrated watered pills, the decoction needs to be concentrated by heat and mixed with medicinal slices or powder to prepare a wet mass. However, some of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) components are easily decomposed or transformed by heat. In order to optimize the preparation process of presonalized TCM concentrated watered pills and reduce the loss of heat-unstable components in prescriptions, this study uses five compound TCM prescriptions containing heat-unstable components as model prescriptions, namely the Linggui Zhugan Formula, Xiaochengqi Formula, Sanpian Formula, Xiaoer Qixing Formula, and Xiaoyao Formula. Based on the two kinds of preparation process of presonalized concentrated watered pills previously established by our research group, whole extract concentrated watered pills and concentrated watered pills without excipients are prepared, respectively. Characteristic maps are measured and compared with those of the corresponding decoction. The results show that the characteristic maps of the concentrated watered pills without excipients of the five model prescriptions are very close to those of the decoction, and the number of characteristic peaks and peak areas are higher than those of whole extract concentrated watered pills. In addition, the peak area of some peaks is higher than that of the corresponding decoction. Thus, it is recommended to select the preparation process of prescription-based concentrated watered pills without excipients based on the "unification of medicines and excipients" to preserve those heat-unstable components more effectively when the prescription contains a heat-unstable component of TCM. This study provides a basis for the subsequent reasonable development and application of presonalized TCM pills.

This study aims to construct the element relationship and extension path of clinical evidence knowledge map with Chinese patent medicine, providing basic technical support for the formation and transformation of the evidence chain of Chinese patent medicine and providing collection, induction, and summary schemes for massive and disorganized clinical data. Based on the elements of evidence-based PICOS, the conventional construction methods of knowledge graph were collected and summarized. Firstly, the data entities related to Chinese patent medicine were classified, and entity linking was performed(disambiguation). Secondly, the study associated and classified the attribute information of the data entity. Finally, the logical relationship between entities was constructed, and then the element relationship and extension path of the knowledge map conforming to the characteristics of clinical evidence of Chinese patent medicine were summarized. The construction of the clinical evidence knowledge map of Chinese patent medicine was mainly based on process design and logical structure, and the element relationship of the knowledge map was expressed according to the PICOS principle and evidence level. The extension path crossed three levels(model layer, data layer application, and new evidence application), and the study gradually explored the path from disease, core evaluation indicators, Chinese patent medicine, core prescriptions, syndrome and treatment rules, and medical case comparison(evolution law) to new drug research and development. In this study, the top-level design of the construction of the clinical evidence knowledge map of Chinese patent medicine has been clarified, but it still needs the joint efforts of interdisciplinary disciplines. With the continuous improvement of the map construction technology in line with the characteristics of TCM, the study can provide necessary basic technical support and reference for the development of the TCM discipline.

An evidence map was established to comprehensively sort out the clinical research in the treatment of post-acute myocardial infarction heart failure(P-AMI-HF) with Chinese patent medicines, so as to reveal the distribution of evidence in this field. CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and EMbase were searched for the randomized controlled trial(RCT), systematic reviews/Meta-analysis, and guidelines/consensus in this field. The evidence was analyzed and displayed in the form of a combination of text, charts, bubble charts, and bar charts, and the quality of RCT, systematic reviews/Meta-analysis, and guidelines/consensus were evaluated by RoB 1.0, AMSTAR2, and AGREE Ⅱ, respectively. A total of 163 RCTs, 4 systematic reviews/Meta-analysis, 1 network Meta-analysis, 2 observational studies, and 5 guidelines/consensus were included. In recent years, the total number of publications in this field has shown an upward trend. There were a variety of Chinese patent medicines in the treatment of P-AMI-HF, among which Shenfu Injection received the most attention. The clinical RCT and systematic reviews/Meta-analysis generally had poor quality, and the RCT mostly had a small size, a single center, and a short cycle. The outcome indicators mainly included cardiac function indicators, myocardial injury markers, total response rate, hemodynamic indicators, and safety indicators, while the characteristic efficacy indicators of TCM received insufficient attention. The development processes of some guidelines/consensus lack standardization, which compromised their authority and rationality. Chinese patent medicines have advantages in the treatment of P-AMI-HF, while there are also problems, which remain to be solved by more high-quality evidence. That is, more large-sample and multi-center clinical studies should be carried out in the future, and the formulation process of relevant systematic reviews/Meta-analysis and guideline/consensus should be standardized and the quality of evidence should be improved. In this way, the effectiveness and safety of Chinese patent medicines in the treatment of P-AMI-HF can be explored.

This study employed evidence mapping to systematically sort out the clinical studies about the treatment of premature ventricular contractions with Chinese patent medicines and to reveal the distribution of evidence in this field. The articles about the treatment of premature ventricular contractions with Chinese patent medicines were searched against PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP with the time interval from January 2016 to December 2022. Evidence was analyzed and presented by charts and graphs combined with text. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 164 papers were included, including 147 interventional studies, 4 observational studies, and 13 systematic reviews. A total of 27 Chinese patent medicines were involved, in which Shensong Yangxin Capsules and Wenxin Granules had high frequency. There were off-label uses in clinical practice. In recent years, the number of articles published in this field showed a decreasing trend. Eight types of outcome indicators were used in interventional studies. Ambulatory electrocardiography, clinical response rate, safety, and echocardiography had high frequency, while the rate of ß-blocker decompensation, major cardiovascular events, and pharmaceutical economic indicators were rarely reported. The evaluation was one-sided. The low quality of the included articles reduced the reliability of the findings. In the future, the clinical use of medicines should be standardized, and the quality of clinical studies should be improved. Comprehensive clinical evaluation should be carried out to provide a sound scientific basis for the treatment of premature ventricular contractions with Chinese patent medicines.
